loves the variety of staying in both a country and a city environment.
iceland
Iceland is a Nordic island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean just outside the Arctic Circle. Known as a nature lovers’ paradise, Iceland has more than 10,000 waterfalls, 800 hot springs, and 35 active volcanoes. Though there are no guarantees that the Northern Lights can be seen during the retreat, Northern Lights season in Iceland spans from late August to mid-April, so it’s a possibility! The weather in early September is typically in the low 50s F for a high and in the low 40s F for a low. The capital of Iceland is its largest city, Reykjavik, where retreat guests will spend the last two nights of the retreat, giving them the perfect mix of Iceland’s city and country.
private villa
The first five nights of Fit & Fly Iceland will be held at a 7,000 square foot private villa in South Iceland. Located outside of Selfoss and just a one-hour drive from Reykjavik, the villa has 10 bedrooms, 7 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, a game room, gym, spa and sauna, kitchen and bar, dining room with seating for up to 20, living room with fireplace, and a TV room.
Outside on the villa’s deck, there is a hot tub and fire pit for lounging after a day of sightseeing. The villa has mountain views, and while there are no guarantees to see the Northern Lights in September, the Northern Lights have been spotted by villa guests from the outdoor deck and hot tub!
With an upscale lodge design and artwork throughout, the villa feels both modern and cozy. The villa offers a variety of accommodations to suit everyone from solo travelers to friends traveling together, as follows:

Canopy Boutique Hotel
Fit & Fly Iceland guests will spend the last 2 nights of the retreat at the 4-star contemporary Canopy boutique hotel in Reykjavik.
Situated in a series of buildings that formerly housed a furniture factory, a music venue, and an arts hub, the Canopy’s decor reflects its eclectic past. Explore the hotel’s impressive 1,000+ vinyl collection, borrow a book from its towering bookshelf, or check out the hotel’s artwork created by Icelandic artists. The building was renovated to include modern spaces for lounging, a fitness center, the chic Geiri Smart restaurant, and the Canopy Central bar. Well-situated in Reykjavik’s city center, the hotel is just a short walk away from the main shopping street, top restaurants, and nightlife.
Guest rooms are stylishly decorated in Scandinavian minimalist design and include a 48-inch HDTV, espresso machine, and complimentary WiFi. Single rooms have one queen bed, and double rooms have two twin beds. An artisanal breakfast is included each morning with the hotel stay.
Please note that other guests will be staying at the Canopy Hotel alongside Fit & Fly guests.
Retreat activities and meals
Fit & Fly Iceland guests will be touring Iceland in a Mercedes Sprinter van that seats 18. An English-speaking guide will tour guests to many of Iceland’s top sights, including various waterfalls, a black sand beach, visiting Thingvellir National Park, seeing Icelandic horses, hiking a glacier, and visiting an ice cave or tunnel.
Evenings at the villa can be spent in the outdoor hot tub; lounging around the deck’s fire pit; relaxing in the villa’s sauna; playing pool or ping pong in the game room; or lounging inside by the fireplace.
While staying at the villa, meals will be prepared by Fit & Fly retreat chef, Ally Beattie. Breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed at the villa, while lunches will be individually packed for each guest to enjoy while out touring Iceland during the day. One lunch will be held in the greenhouse at Friðheimar geothermal tomato farm as part of a visit to the farm.
After moving to a hotel in Reykjavik for the last two nights of the retreat, Fit & Fly Iceland guests will experience a “free day” in the city for the Thursday of the retreat, allowing them to shop, sightsee, eat and drink at Reykjavik’s restaurants and bars, or simply have some downtime at the hotel. On the Friday of the retreat, guests will visit the famous Blue Lagoon for a soak in the hot springs followed by an evening out as a group at an upscale Reykjavik restaurant for dinner.
